Academic Program

The World Energy Cities Academic Partnership (WECAP) was created in 2009 in order to generate research activities relevant to WECP cities through the collaboration of universities.

WECAP workshops focus on three shared energy and environmental related issues: how to reduce greenhouse gas emissions; how to decarbonise fossil fuels - including Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS), ‘clean coal’ technologies, energy conservation and energy efficiency measures; and how to diversify economies in light of the challenges of moving from non-renewable to renewable energy.

The purpose of these workshops is to share research projects proposed and developed by academic institutions in our member cities, in order to create collaborative partnerships and funding opportunities for joint comparative international projects.
