The Partnership

The World Energy Cities Partnership (WECP) is a collaboration between 15 "energy cities" around the world. WECP is a Texas 501(c)(6) non-profit corpration and is directed by an elected President and Vice-President, and supported by a Secretariat office, which is based in Houston. The Houston Secretariat, and WECP worldwide, are supported by the Greater Houston Partnership. The Greater Houston Partnership is the primary advocate of Houston's business community and is dedicated to building regional economic prosperity. Visit www.houston.org for more information.

The WECP Working Meetings are scheduled to coincide with major oil and gas trade shows around the world, which also are used to broaden the WECP network of contacts, assist businesses with development opportunities and promote the WECP as a pioneer in worldwide energy industry development.

Specific benefits arising from WECP membership include business development activity, trade missions, joint projects and sharing of information in areas such as emergency planning, international schools, oil industry expectations and oil industry diversification strategies.

City membership of the WECP allows the exchange of petroleum industry knowledge and economic and infrastructure development strategies, which is important to help each city in its common task of supporting the local energy sector. In addition to city collaboration, the WECP provides a worldwide network of industry support services and resources, and it facilitates trade missions for local businesses to travel to member cities and capitalize on business development opportunities.

The mayor of each city heads the membership, with local government officers assisting in the partnership's activities. This collaboration provides a worldwide network of opportunity for the businesses within the member cities, and it also provides local governments with shared knowledge and resources to assist in economic development activities.
