Stavanger, Norway

Leif Johan Sevland
Mayor, City of Stavanger

Over the last 35 years Norway has become the sixth largest oil producer and third largest oil exporter in the world. Stavanger lies at the heart of these operations.

Thanks to the foresight of local politicians and entrepreneurs who recognized the possibilities in the 1960s, the Stavanger region is now the undisputed hub of European petroleum exploration activities and Europeís main petro-maritime cluster.

In Stavanger you find the European head offices of all of the major international operators such as Shell, BP, Exxon Mobil, ConocoPhillips, TOTAL and Statoil.
